Hi BJ,

I know this probably isn't the right place to ask but, I've had a very difficult time finding any simple working information on creating a mod for COD4. The mod tools are some of the least user friendly I've encountered. I made a mod in the past for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield without any tutorials. Last time I checked I'm NOT a software developer for IW.

There seems to be little information on how to use the mod tools. The COD4 wiki just covers making maps which I'm not really interested in. Forum posts from various websites I've found give mostly incomplete/confusing info on modding without much explanation.

You clearly have a solid grasp on how to mod COD4, so I figured if I'm going to ask someone I should ask the best. How did you do it?

I managed to figure out how to edit gun settings via notepad and save the .ff and .iwd files in a mod folder.

I'm still clueless on how to do other basic things. Such as character movement speed, removing perks, removing the hud/crosshair ala hardcore, editing sound effects, etc.

Can you point me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These are some very broad questions you are asking here, so it is hard to give a good answer to them.

For most of these problems, I would advise you to post on the Infinityward Modding forums (http://www.infinityward.com/community/forum/index.php?board=31.0). I usually go there with my questions and answers, since there are a lot of good modders out there.

Also, I already did do modding on CoD:UO and CoD2, which helped immensely since the inner workings of all the CoD games are more or less the same, as well as the programming language.

Thanks for prompt reply BJ. Much appreciated. :063:

I've been to that forum before and done some searches but found the information to be kind of scattershot.

Some of the members appear to be knowledgeable so I'll post a few questions and see what happens.

Thanks again.
