View Full Version : BJR has the officer gametype in it. How do I start that in rotation lineup?

I would like to add officer to my gametype map rotation. The other gametypes are easy enough( gametype tdm map mp_snowforest ect) but what do I put in place of tdm for officer gametype? Is it just (gametype officer map_snowforest) ?

Well, what version do you have? If I remember correctly, I have not yet released the newest version with the included officer gametype.

If you want, I can provide you with the latest beta version which has the officer gametype and all the new features mentioned on the site included. Be aware, that there might be one or two bugs present in that version.

I thought I read that this one had the officer version in it, I must have misunderstood what I saw. It would be great if you could send me the beta version with that gametype in it. M friends and I have rented a server for cod2 and think the officer game sounds like great fun. Thanks, mcduke

Ok, I have the zip file with the final beta attached to this post, so you can download it here. I have put a text file in the zip with all the cvars. Just copy/paste those, the cvars for the officer gametype are in there too.

Also, to put the gametypes in the map rotation:

Officer: gametype off map mp_carentan
Team Elimination: gametype tel map mp_carentan

I hope you have fun with it.

I finally got a chance to try the officer mod built into the bjustreal mod, but it doesn't quite work right. The american side doesn't get an officer to protect. Only the german side gets an officer.

Could you provide me with more information on what happened? What was the situation? What map was playing? What BJR settings were you using? Etc.

The map was playing and the game wouldn't start until there was a player on each side(which makes sense), but only the german side got an officer. The american side didn't get the officer, just soldiers. Other then that it seemed to work okay, atleast within the scope just stated.

Forgot to state that the map we were playiing in was Murmansk.

It sometimes happens that when a map is playing for a while already without any players, one team might not get an officer when two or more players join. It happened to me once on Villers-Bocage, so the map is not a problem. This is a bug I am still trying to catch. If it happens again, just do a fast_restart.

I'll be setting up the server this wednesday night (the usual night my friends and I play cod2). I'll be running the following gametypes, which I think you'll find interesting, dm, tdm, ft (freeze tag) and off (officer). Apparently the freeze tag mod works ok with the bjustreal mod (which is awesome). I'll let you know how everything works out. I run the server on wed. starting at 7:30pm eastern U.S. time (being in upstate NY) and we usually play for about 3 hours. The server name is Major Misfits.

Be aware though, that the freezetag gametype is not really supported in BJR. It will most likely run, but you will miss out on a lot of scripted features, if not all.

Well, we just played on the server with the bjustreal mod final and the freeze tag mod tryig to run different gametypes. I t was worth a shot but the freeze tag mod is not meant to be used with other gametypes. It dominates the whole server. I could run tdm, dm, and ft, but it wouldn't allow you to select any other weapon during game play, like tdm. It would tell you ,"you can not chance weapons while you are frozen.". Plus the supposed distance unfreezing using the binoculars wasn't working. It also changed some of the weapon sounds and color of the smoke grenades. Never even got to gry the officer gametype. That's to bad cuz the freeze tag was fun. I t just seem to mess things up some. I'll going to take if off.

I uploaded this mod (Beta) and am getting a Run Script Error which is making it not possible to start the server. Any idea why?

This is the config file I was using. I REALLY want those new settings from the Beta on our server... but obviously not if it wont work. I've since gone back to my previous version of BJust and it works fine.

I am really curious as to what the error message is. Could you start the server in developer mode and paste the whole syntax/runtime error here? That way, I can most likely fix it.

To start the server in developer mode, just put "developer 1" somewhere in the config file (without the quotes ofcourse).

EDIT: Hmm, strange. I seem to get a "iwd sum/name mismatch" with your config, but I do not get it with my own config. I started up a TDM game on Carentan with both configs, by the way.

Weird... I'll do this after my drills in 2 hours. I'll post up whatever I get here. My server host told me he got that error, and when I put the old version of the mod back on (stop/start the server) it worked fine. So let me see what happens with the developer mode... and I'll let you know.

Were you trying to run a custom map? If so, which one?

It seems that the soldiertypes were not defined in the map's script file, which caused the uniform portion of the mod to crash. Perhaps if you try it with a different map, the mod will work.
