Hello all,
I saw that I haven't post in a long time, so maybe this is a suitable time for a review... The movie today is a sequel, which I thought it was too and unnecessary complicated, with some good angles of the camera and traditional for such movies fighting scenes. The movie is "Underworld:Evolution" and gathers for the second time director Les Wiseman, beautiful Kate Beckinsale, and Scott Speedman in a tale of brotherhood, love and honor... The film starts with an early battle (1201 A.D.) between vampires and lycans where the Death Dealers were looking for the brother of one of the High Vampires (Marcus), but accidentaly they were attacked by the Lycans in order to protect their leader - one big and mean werewolf known under the name of William... After he was being captured and imprisoned, the present day picture is revealed by us taking just from where the first movie stopped - Selene and Michael Corvin running from the vampires after Selene killed Viktor with a very precise cut from half of his head (impressive), and Kraven opens the sarcophagus of Marcus to see the effect of the blood on him... After a bit tedious game of cat-and-mouse between Marcus and the two runaway secret lovers (a quite nice love scene is depicted further into the movie) at the end the purpose of Marcus is unveiled - he is willing to release his brother william from the vampire prison and become a ruler of the underworld, not stopping in front of anything including killing his own father Alexander Corvinus after aquiring a piece of pendant which is sort of a key to the place which holds his brother imprisoned... Well at the end good guys won as usual, and I suspect that it will have another part coming... Now the overall summary of this movie, the tone of it was still as the first one i.e. dark and mirky, Selene is portrayed well and it was taken a lot of time for the development of the characters and make the plot more consistent and not like a usual tale of vampires like "Blade: Trinity" on the other side, there wasn't as many fight scenes as the previous one and some of the characters gave a rather wooden performance on screen or overreacting a bit... I know that the name is "Underworld", but at some times I found it quite hard to see anything in the dark picture before my eyes, the pace for the second chapter is set a bit slower than the first, but it is still enjoyable and entertaining... That's all for now, hope to have another movie soon on which to express my opinion and thoughts...All the best from me and take care...
