Hello all, it's me again your movie reviewer with a new thread which is a bit far from my favorite martial arts universe. It's the long anticipated sequel of a movie which brings back the memories of treasures, adventures, ships, sea battles, mysteroius islands and courageous heroes going on a rescue for a beautiful women captured by some evil villain - "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest". The next chapter in Captain Jack Sparrow is revealed to us with lots of humour (more than the first part), more amazing creatures ( The Cracken - a leviathan (mytical creature similar to a giant squid, with lots of tentacles, capable of destroying any ship), the crew of Dead Man - a mutated once-they-were-humans people and the Dead Man himself - cursed to sail on the "Flying Dutchman" for a 100 years and possessing a key which Captain Jack Sparrow looks after to free himself of the death mark used by pirates - The Black mark.) The story begins with capturing both Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) and Will (Orlando Bloom) by soldiers led by a ruthless and greedy representative of The East-Indian trade corporation, which made a deal with Will to bring him the famous compass of Captain Jack Sparrow (wonderfully played again by Johnny Depp) and in return he would let them both be free and Jack being made a legitimate pirate... On the other hand Jack himself is looking for a certain key which unlocks the Dead Man's chest containing the still beating heart of the captain of "The Flying Dutchman" ship and Jack's freedom from the curse... Unfortunately in Tortuga the crew of "The Black Pearl" - where Jack Sparrow is the captain after retaking this ship from the previous one in first movie - came across an old "friend" or foe, capt. Norrigton now a degenerated man finding pleasure in drinking huge amounts of rum, but one which sees an opportunity to avenge both Will and Jack, creating a sneaky plan for his own purposes. In between the three subplots there are plenty of sea battles, nice locations, clashes of egos, heroes, damsel in distress situations and lots of laughter enough to satisfy the fans of first part, although the pirate theme is a bit overplayed at some times... Good movie, high above some other examples in that genre and hugely entertaining piece of filmmaking... For all the fans of sea adventures...
P.S. Special thanks goes to Yannick, for the idea of making a review on this movie...Thanks mate...I'll wait for another options from you...Cheers
