Hello again (I'm repeating myself)...Oh well, another day, another film, another review...This time under my attention has fallen one quite interesting and attractive movie from 1993 called "The Tai Chi Master" starring Jet Li in his top form (a year later he made his overall best example of martial arts movie "Fist of Legend") Michelle Yeoh (well known from Ang Lee's blockbuster "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon") and brilliant choreography of Yuen Woo ping (the master responsible for the martial arts abilities of Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburn and Carrie-Ann Moss in "The Matrix" trilogy). The story is about two young monks at Shaolin temple which were sent packing when one of them attacked one of the sifu (teacher in English) and thus the high monks of the temple decide to show them both the door. As they were wondering in a town without any money they suddenly saw the local dictator and after a brief scene where one of the generals of this dictator took away all of their money earned by showing their martial arts skills in public one of the monks decided to go and become a soldier in dictator's army. The other one (Jet Li) starts helping in the local tea house where he finds out that all of the staff are rebels fighting against the rule of the dictator and decides to join their cause. His fellow "brother" from the temple helps them too when infiltrating the camp, but at the end it turns out that his fellow "brother" is just earned the dictator's respect by giving him all of the rebels to deal with. Only Jet Li and another guy form the rebels managed to escape from the massacre. Ensuring all of the rebels are dead his evil (now) "brother" challenge Jet Li to a final battle using his relationship with Michelle Yeoh, where at the end no one got the better hand...Jet Li character was pretty much wounded (physically and mentally) and uses the ancient form of martial arts "Tai Chi" (pronounced "hai qi") to restore his powers and heal his wounds for the upcoming real final battle with his evil counterpath. It's great watching Jet Li in terrific form with all kicks and flips and punches through all opponents with such grace and flexibility that only few can withstand...His highlight battle against the evil "brother" represents the power of Tai Chi in full. Find this movie, watch it and you won't be dissapointed - for all martial arts movies fans out there...
