If you have read the book (which is a real page turner) don't bother going to see this movie. Since you will already know the story, there are no surprises and so no suspense: the very things that made the book such a great trash read. What is left then is a mildly interesting travelogue through some pretty places in France, England and Scotland and that is all.
However, if you have not read the book, at best all this movie can offer is a run-of-the-mill, vaguely interesting and semi-plausable thriller.
What I want to know is who took leave of their senses and cast Tom Hanks in the lead. Our hero of the plot is supposed to be an academic not Forest Gump doing history. The best line in the movie (which almost made me laugh out aloud) was a super serious Forest Gump turning to the heroine and saying '..... quick... we have got to get to a library!!!'
I suggest you do the same and read the book and skip the movie.

I've read the book.. but i'm thinking although to see the movie.. just to have seen it. I don't suspect it too be near the book.. It's annoying that they can't make good movies from a book...

I saw the film yesterday and it is quite normal, nothing surprising at all and I agree that Tom Hanks is not the Robert Langdon I imagine when I was reading the book...Sadly again an average movie from a book which is interesting enough to be banned from the church,as a controversial item which disturbs ancient history and foundations of a religion (Christianity) ...

I heard the comments on the radio, the french actrice is supposed to be a crap actor and Jean Reno is and actor who has had his best times.
No way the movie could ever match the book.
I might rent it on DVD some day if I'm realy bored, nothing beats a good book and we should beat the guys that ruin good storries in their movies.
cheers

I knew it.. you wanted to go with me.... :D
Sadly I will wait for the dvd or when I can grab it from somewhere else. The theory behind it is interesting... but the movie already sounded bit dull.

I listened to the book twice now (I have 2.5 hours every day to listen to books when I'm driving to work and back). Most films made from books are disappointing because you already know the outcome. I prefer the books because they give you several hours/days of pleasure and a film only about 2 hours.
When you like "The Da Vinci Code" you should also read the other books of Dan Brown. They are all spectacular!!
- Angels and Demons
- Digital Fortress
- Deception point
I'll watch the movie but only to have some images to go with the story. My opinion: read the book!!
Amen
