About 15 years ago i become a fan of three people from Hong Kong martial arts film industry - Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao...The reason was a movie titled "Project A". An old film made 1983 and representing the finest form of entertainment in HK by that time, a film that stands in my Top 3 of all Jackie Chan movies at second place (the first one is "Drunken Master" 1979) and that haven't been surpassed by any modern day martial arts movie to-date (maybe Sha Po Lang starring Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung is the closest to this movie in atmosphere, but I'm talking about old skool - they don't make such films anymore). The story goes around young sailor named Dragon Ma in the end of 19 century (Jackie Chan) who is transfered to the local police squad after an unfortunate turn of events where the entire sea division were left without a single ship due to a sabotage aimed at stopping the sailors to begin their "secret" operation which was issued by the naval command to clear the sea from the pirates led by their leader Sam Pao. After the end of the poor marines all of them were asigned to the local police department under the supervision and command of one young captain with whom Jackie and the whole sea squad were fighting just before the operation in a pub which was literaly smashed from the blows and kicks that sailors and policemen were trading...And when Dragon laid eyes on the new person in command of his squad he knew that this will be one tough training, because the nasty captain (Yuen Biao) was the same from the pub brawl. later on a street smugller (Sammo Hung) enters the scene as a Dragon's friend and helps him to stole some rifles from the local gangsters, one of them connected with the famous pirate Sam Pao. After a lot of amasingly looking scenes the three brothers were able to defeat the whole pirate community with a big BOOM! and after that end credits rolled...A beautifully crafted masterpiece with awesome choreography, a decent plot, and the amasing chemistry between the three brothers from Hong Kong...A film that has to be seen to be believed...
